a couple weeks ago I was in Oxford, a visit that was lovely for many reasons. top among the moments was tipping a pint at the Eagle and the Child (aka the Bird and Baby)
frequented by C. S. Lewis and the literary group "The Inklings". I had a good laugh as I read the note on the wall, signed by a good number of the group including Lewis: "We the undersigned, having just partaken of your pub, have drunk to your health." The note was given to the pub manager and is now framed in that very room in the pub. it makes me ponder what good might come from faith and culture conversations not at the university or in the church--but in a pub! Any takers?
