Read David C. Steinmetz's brief and profound note on "what saints teach us" in the recent Christian Century (October 30 issue, not up as of today). It is wise in the ways only senior scholars can be--smart, complex, simple, chastened, and reflective. I wrote to thank him for the article, conscious of how often I think of such and don't write to say thanks. Do you? If not, try it. A good "All Saints" discipline!

To David, or whom it may concern...
What the "Saints Teach Us" hardly does him justice-Mirosalv Volf' a man of magnificance he is-and astounding Love. I listen to him intently at a Elmbrrok Church's Semeniar...thinking too myself, I have never heard of such a man of this-too great he is for words! The Book "Free Of Charge" is just a caption of my beliefs: Praying daily I do-amongst the visions of another gifted man Dr. Scot McKnight of the Jesus Creed Blog'...hopeful through past memories and present that I do not fall awayside into the skeptics thinking pattern-holding onto bitternesses that will eventually destroy . But, we are oh sooo thankful-yes...for The Saints...God put them on this earth...Yes , He did to gather the wounded and the harmed....Memories...we pray solemly they vanish.....Rahab
