I had the great joy of leading my first chapel service at Luther Seminary today. We did a bluegrass style setting of morning prayer, drawing a couple pieces of music from Kent Gustafson's Mountain Vespers (which I learned at Holden this summer). It was great fun, moving, and the chapel had a good spirit-people sang along, thankfully, without having the music in front of them.
Here's a picture of a few of us rehearsing: me on bass, Andrew Willis on banjo, Rolf Jacobson on guitar, and Andrew Ronnevik on fiddle. We added Aaron Werner (guitar), Kate Sterner (fiddle), and Jeffery Goodrich (assisting minister) for the service which you can watch in video streaming here.
