Jon (who blogs cool thoughts on his blog called grapho (and it is in greek, no less) thought my cover proposal for Broken Hallelujah might be better in black and white. I realized that I had done a mix and it did look sort of odd so here are a couple more, one with the same pictures but all b&w, and another with some different pictures. I think I like the new all color best, partly because of the interrelationship of the photos, which are pretty amazing shots. Being a photographer would be an amazing job. My cousin, as an aside, is a bicycle photographer (and photographer of everyday life) in Paris.
[Edit: okay, another black and white below, matching the new color option. I'll stop with these and see what Brazos thinks.]
I'd take the color cover and make it B&W. The placement of the text on the current B&W cover distorts the Dixie Chicks picture. I also like the head-shots in the color cover better.
Just my two-cents.
Looking forward to hearing you speak at the Extravaganza in a couple of weeks!

too much, too much, too much! I love the idea, but you need more open space, less concentration of image, and a font that communicates more easily. Right now the title is getting lost. Actually, I think the images themselves are getting a little lost. Maybe bleed them into each other more? Or wash them out -- I think that may be part what the B&W would help? Or create more empty space around them? And here's the real kicker: how do these images convey "broken hallelujahs?" to me all it conveys are lots of pop culture folk...

Thanks for the shout out! I'm partial to the B&W covers, but I also like the new color cover. One minor thing is the placement of your name directly under the one photo (I should know who that is but I can't place the name right now). All in all, it's looking great!

I think my favorite is the B&W cover at the top. Looking at them all, though, I think it's just because I really love the picture in the bottom left-hand corner of that cover--the guy with his hands over his face. Who is that? It's a brilliant picture.
