Incredible, that's all I have to say, folks. Bono even got his guitar out ;-)

Jesus is for universal healthcare
This post is the flip-side to an angry rant about the evil side of our American health care debate posted earlier today. Both that, and this post below are inspired by the powerful week I've just had. So what happened?...

Hinlicky's challenge to the ELCA after the vote
In Paul Hinlicky's "post-mortem"on the ELCA churchwide assembly calling for 'separation, not divorce' I realize more clearly that ever that we progressive theologians in the ELCA have some hard work to do. It ought to have been done better long...

Partly I'm just impressed how they are willing to put their faith out there, to keep wondering about what God is doing and can do, crying out in lament and praise, regardless of the 'sitting down' or calls for them to 'quit preaching'.

This must be from Sunday night, as I was there on Saturday and I don't remember any Amazong Grace. I guess Bono was just really moved on Sunday.
So great to see Tutu, and to see him so animated and amused.
And Chris, thanks again for your U2 book. Still the most readable, accessible, and interesting Theology of the Cross I've read (don't tell Moltmann I said that, though).

Chris, I wish you were coming to Durham for the academic conference on U2.
