I'm reading more deeply into the work of MacKinnon, currently in a volume considering the impact of his work titled Christ, Ethics and Tragedy. In Richard Roberts' chapter on MacKinnon's 'Barth' he quotes from 1940s God the Living and the True:
"Any exposition of the Christian doctrine of God must first posit the Cross. For Christians, theology is, and must be, a theologia crucis, a theology of the Cross."
I think I'll be continuing my engagement with this fellow . . .
